Taking action is so important in Life. This is what moves us forward. If we do not take-action we are actually going down. Our net worth, our knowledge everything depreciates. One of the biggest difference between Average and Successful people or Successful and Highly Successful people is that the Latter in both the cases always Take Action.

So what do I mean by “Taking Action”?? This is a vast subject and in the context of my article, I shall restrict it to implementing something from what we learn or putting into action something that will move us towards our Goals – when we get inspired or motivated by an idea.

In today’s world, we have access to a lot of learning. Books, Public Seminars, Tedtalks, Youtube videos, Whatsapp forwards, Facebook posts and the list is endless. We could learn from every individual we meet young or old.

When we learn something new and feel that there are few things we can take away and implement in our life, one thing I suggest is to analyze what we learned by asking ourselves:

–         Is this relevant to me?

–         Will it move me towards my Goals??

If the answer is yes to both – then what can I implement immediately.

In the Initial days as I started reading Self-help books and following International Authors and leaders such as Robin Sharma, Bob Proctor and the like, when I wanted to implement new ideas from my learnings the 2 biggest challenges I faced were:

a)     Having to encounter Pain. Implementing new ideas meant moving out of comfort zone and embracing some pain. Pleasure over pain was always my first choice.

b)     I wanted to make too many changes at a time and used to get overwhelmed and go back to my old routine. This used to cause stress and anxiety too.

I believe this is the same with most of us

I found two ways of countering the above and motivating myself to take action which worked:

a)     Seeing the benefits that I will derive by implementing a new idea – the Big picture as I call it. Visualizing the Big Picture is always motivating.

b)     Starting by taking baby steps.  One step a day is better than none.

I personally believe in taking Action and this belief has grown on me over the past few years as I keep seeing results.

Almost 4 years back a friend of mine suggested me to view a series of youtube video on Anatomic Therapy. A person was sharing his findings on the Human body and healthy lifestyle. I watched them and got very inspired. My knowledge of Human body completely changed. I learned that our body is bestowed with all the mechanisms to self-heal for anything from a small headache to AIDS or Cancer. Right food, eating habits, and some exercise is the key. Medicines cause more harm than eradicating the issue.

So what did I do next………. I did several things – one at a time:

A)    I emptied our medicine box of its contents into a bag and threw it in the garbage saying out you go from my life.

B)    The above was coupled with some small changes in my eating habits. To list a few:

i)                   I stopped having water 30 mins before any meal during the meal and 30 mins after the meal.

ii)                 At home, the legs of our dining table got cut and we started sitting crossed legs on the floor and having our food.

iii)               I started chewing my food to a paste with mouth closed before sending it down the throat.

iv)               I cut off any distraction while eating viz, watching TV, videos, reading books and even talking. My complete focus was on the food and tasting the flavors.

v)                 I started including a lot of fruits and vegetables in my daily food intake.

These are just to name a few. There are many more small changes I brought in gradually and they are all a habit passed on to my unconscious mind now.

4 years to date and I am proud to say that I am hale and healthy having lost close to 12 kilos and have not taken any medicines[testimonial_rotator id=”612″] (allopathy or alternate medicines for that matter) and neither visited a doctor. Anytime I got a fever or a headache I used to patiently wait for the Body to self-heal.

This is only one of many personal victories I am sharing. I started following Robin Sharma’s 5 am club and now without an alarm I wake up at 4.30 am. Practicing Gratitude, Meditation, Prayer before meals are few things I practice daily and have become a part of my unconscious mind. Every time I learn something new and if I feel that implementing it will take me closer to my Goals I TAKE ACTION.

I believe, taking action is the One thing, the most important thing that separates the winners from the non-winners, the haves from the have-nots, the high achievers from the everyday people.

One thing is dangerous though………… Do not promise something to yourself and not do it.

Remember,

Every promise you uphold is another stroke in the painting called self-belief.

Every promise You falter is another scratch on the painting of self-belief.

Set baby steps for success and be proud of achieving them. It will motivate you to take more action.

How much we know or believe is of little consequence, what is important is what we do with what we know.
